Biography
Hovsep Aghjian is an interior architect with over a decade of experience shaping spaces that foster connection and creativity.
Born in 1989, Hovsep earned his BA in Interior Design from the Lebanese International University. He began his career in Beirut at NIHAKO, a company with a rich history as the leading furniture manufacturer in the Middle East during the 1960s and 1970s. Over 12 years, he grew from junior designer to Head of the Design Department, overseeing projects across Beirut, Paris, Riyadh, and Doha. During this time, he developed in-depth knowledge of woodworking through the meticulous shop drawings he produced, refining his understanding of materials and construction techniques.
In 2021, he founded Atelier.36, a personal studio focused on real-time architecture and community-driven spaces. The studio emphasizes low-expense yet highly aesthetic, bold solutions where functionality serves as the foundation of every design.
From 2022 to 2024, he served as Head of Interior Design at Electric Architects, managing commercial projects in Armenia, Abu Dhabi, and London. He built and led a multidisciplinary team, streamlined workflows, and oversaw all aspects of design, from concept to execution. His role included detailing drawing packages, site supervision, and coordinating with contractors, engineers, and clients to ensure seamless project delivery.
Hovsep’s expertise extends beyond design—he is highly skilled in managing large teams and bridging gaps between all stakeholders to bring projects to life. Whether working on a building or an interior, he strives to create environments that resonate deeply with people and communities.
